Review of the car owner Toyota Corolla 2014
1.8-Liter 4-Cylinder DOHC 16-Valve with Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i); 132 hp
Hello to all Dromovites! I wanted to leave a review about the American version of such a mega popular car as Toyota Corolla. We rented and rode this car about 1200 km for 5 days, so this review does not claim to be complete. I must say right away that there was a contradictory impression about the car, and that I would not take one for myself, but about everything in order ...
To begin with, I have been using Toyota products for 3 years and have been very happy with my 2005 Toyota Allion with a 1zz engine. This car did not feel very dynamic, but I really liked its appearance, excellent, and I would even say a premium class interior, a lot of legroom in the back row, a bunch of features such as a rear view camera, parking sensors, etc. I owned this car 3 year from 2008 to 2011 and sold it for only 30 thousand cheaper than bought, although over these 3 years it has become 2 times older :). Currently I own an Infiniti Toyota Corolla 2018 LE (1.8L 4cyl 2A) Black g37 3.7 liter rear wheel drive and Mazda Cx-5 2.5 liter front wheel drive. For a long time I drove a VW Jetta, which, in principle, is almost a direct competitor to the Corolla.
Despite the fact that I was happy with my Allion in the Russian Federation, I did not consider buying a Toyota in the USA. Because one thing is a model for the Japanese market where there is no Lexus, and quite another thing is a car for the American market where the Toyota Lexus line is very clearly built. For some reason, even in the cabin of the soplatform Avensis, you no longer felt such quality and convenience as in the Allion. What can we say about the American Toyota. In the USA, Toyota is generally a wooden car! I traveled several times as a passenger in Camry, Sienna and they were really wooden cars, especially Sienna. Even more, this "woodiness" refers to the Corolla - one of the cheapest Toyota. But, despite its "woodiness", the car is very popular in the United States like all Toyota models. I think this is because many Americans are actually not very sophisticated in cars. For many, only reliability, goodies, economy of gasoline, and a low price are important. All these requirements are met by local Toyota's - a lot of cars for little money, reliability. People do not want to overpay for soft plastic in the cabin, for "Shumka", for the best "taxiing". In the United States, for many, cars are not an indicator of success; such people prefer a "workhorse". Those who value a high-quality interior, dynamic performance, design are not choosing Toyota. I would even say that Toyota makes the most "wooden" cars among all (American, Japanese, Korean, and German) cars in the USA! Previously, many American cars were distinguished by their uncomplicated and
low-quality interior, but now they are already head and shoulders above Toyota :)
B0.
The biggest drawback, from my point of view, is the salon. Even the interior of the previous body seemed more pleasant to me. The same salon does not seem to be called completely cheap, but it was made deliberately in a collective farm and clumsy. I get the impression that the design was deliberately degraded externally. It's a shame that the same style is now in all new Toyota's. It's funny that in the photographs the interior looks even good, but here's the feeling, from the plastic of the steering wheel, from this pseudo leather with stitching ... Maybe my attitude was influenced by the unpleasant smell of plastic in a new car. I think the main thing I didn’t like was the design - it could have been made easier, using the same cheap materials, but making the design more pleasing to the eye and more classic or something. Although, if you treat a car as a means of transportation, then you can get used to it and score.
The exterior of the car as a whole leaves a rather pleasant impression. Unlike the European, outwardly American version of the Corolla does not try to seem expensive. The headlights are simple, all without frills, but they look quite modern and do not cause rejection.
It's funny that the practically new car had a rattling steering rack. I never expected this from Toyota. Perhaps this is a marriage of a particular instance of a car.
In short, the Corolla solidified my view of the American Toyota as an inexpensive, wooden, simple car.
interesting appearance! And how did you determine that the rake rattles, drove it to the service?
